Intrigue Summer Party 2016

A big thanks to everyone who came out for our Summer Community Appreciation Party last night! We’ve said it before, but these parties wouldn’t be possible without our amazing and supportive community. Thanks for making the last 10 years of working in Guelph such an awesome experience.

This year’s party was our biggest yet! With over 250 RSVPs and hundreds of attendees, our parties seem determined to grow with each passing year. Good thing we’ll soon have a bigger space for them 🙂

As Rob and Paul mentioned last night, this will be our last party here at 151 Westmount Road! By Christmas 2016, we’ll be moved into our new location on Delhi Street, next to the hospital. Just wanted to remind everyone for our next party — the new residents may not appreciate a string of people queueing outside their door. It’s bittersweet to say goodbye to this old place, but we are all super excited for this next chapter in the story of Intrigue!

Our 10th Anniversary Party was a huge success on the fundraising front! Thanks to all your generous donations, we raised over $1,200 for the Children’s Foundation of Guelph and Wellington. Everyone was enthusiastically buying 50-50 tickets, but the lucky winner of the draw was Greta Robinson. Congratulations to Greta!

For our community chef-off, we had Cassoulet Catering, Foodies Anonymous, Taste Fine Foods and Pia from Pia’s On Broadway come out to support us. After sampling all the delicious food and voting on your favourites, Taste Fine Foods was declared this year’s winner. Big thanks to all the teams that came out to provide food for the party. If you’re looking for a caterer for an event, make sure to keep them in mind!

As usual, drink for the summer party was provided by a number of organizations. Beer came courtesy of Wellington Brewery and Sleeman Brewery. Wine was provided by KJ Urban Winery — we hope you all remembered to grab a mini-bottle on the way out! Thanks to all of them for helping make the party a success.

The highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the visit from our very own mayor, Cam Guthrie, who took his turn in the dunk tank to cool off! Other participants were Harold DeVries, from the Guelph Wellington Business Enterprise Centre, and Intrigue co-founder Rob Murray. Thanks to Cam and the city of Guelph for coming out to show their support!

We’ll be honest, there are too many people to thank! We wish we could acknowledge each and every one of you, but hopefully you know how much we appreciate all your contributions. That being said, we would be remiss if we didn’t give shout-outs to a few key helpers. Music was provided by David Cavan Fraser  for the evening. The photo booth and props came courtesy of Never Forget Photos and tent rentals were provided by the gracious Tim Partridge of Countryside Camp. Thanks to the lovely ladies from the LPGA for coming out to run out Skeeball game!

Last but not least, the party was planned and organized by the amazing Meaghan Gibson of Impression Events. She has been the mastermind behind Intrigue’s parties for many years and continues to knock it out of the park!
