Bringing Back the #GivingRing for Giving Tuesday 2016

Intrigue

At Intrigue, finding creative ways to get attention is our favourite thing to do — and it’s also how we help our clients on a daily basis.

Last year, we found a new opportunity to get attention for a great cause AND to live out our purpose of “Empowering Leaders and Strengthening Communities”. We joined the Giving Tuesday campaign to raise money for the Special Olympics, held in Guelph this past year — and so the #GivingRing was born!

We are proud to announce that we are doing it again:

On November 29th, we will be raising funds to support the Guelph Humane Society for Giving Tuesday 2016!

We couldn’t be more excited 🙂

The Giving Ring was chosen as a symbol that people would connect with our cause in 2015 — The Special Olympics — and this year we’re bringing it back to support the Guelph Humane Society!

Giving Ring with Guelph Mayor Cam Guthrie in 2015It’s no secret that we love social media. Last year, we learned that one feature of the Giving Ring was its shareability. We recruited dozens of leaders in our community to join us in sharing images of the #GivingRing, using social media’s most popular tool, The Selfie.

Our team snapped selfies of the Giving Ring with Mayor Cam Guthrie of Guelph; Mayor Dave Jaworsky of Waterloo; Marianne Walker, CEO of the Guelph General Hospital; Linda Hasenfratz, President & CEO of Linamar; Ian McLean, President of the Greater KW Chamber of Commerce; and many local business leaders on the streets of Guelph & KW. In the end, we helped raised close to $1000 dollars for the Special Olympics.

In 2016, we’re raising the bar. Our goal is to collect $2000 for the Guelph Humane Society on Giving Tuesday — November 29th, 2016.

You can help us make a difference in the community by donating to our campaign today![/toggle]

If you follow us on Instagram, Facebook or Twitter, you’ll understand why this choice was such a natural fit for us! We’re a company of pet-lovers. We are always sharing photos of our office dogs, Malcolm and Mabel, who brighten our lives on a daily basis.

This year, we’re excited to help all the dogs, cats, and other pets, who haven’t found a home yet. We hope you’ll join us in raising funds for the Humane Society on Giving Tuesday!

Giving Tuesday logo in Canada

Giving Tuesday is a Global Giving Day.

The world’s response to Black Friday and Cyber Monday, Giving Tuesday is held on the week following Black Friday. While these two holidays were created for the good of the economy, Giving Tuesday was established for the good of the community.

Giving Tuesday is your chance to give back, by donating to the charity or not-for-profit of your choice. It’s a day when companies, municipalities and individuals will rally together for their favourite causes. The holiday was originally started in the US in 2012 by the UN Foundation and several other partners. It has since spread to Canada, and around the world, through local initiatives like Guelph Gives and Giving Tuesday WR.

For many, Giving Tuesday simply marks the start of the season of holiday giving. For our team here at Intrigue, it’s simply another opportunity for us to come together and help support our community :)[/toggle]

How To Participate

Just like last year, we’re planning a social media blitz for Giving Tuesday. You can follow us on on Twitter, Instagram, or Facebook to keep track of the action!

Here’s the game plan: we’re going to get as many local leaders to take a Selfie with the Giving Ring, then we’re asking them to:

  1. Donate to the Guelph Humane Society
  2. Post Their Selfie to Social Media (Using #GivingRing)
  3. Pass the Giving Ring to Another Leader

It’s that easy! We have 8 rings making their way throughout the region in all different directions on Giving Tuesday, so keep your eyes peeled for a sighting! If you’d like to participate, you can get in contact with our team here.[/toggle]

Online Donations

We know that we can’t bring the #GivingRing to everyone — so we’re making it possible for people to donate online. Just make sure you submit your donation before the end of Giving Tuesday on November 29th!

Thanks in advance for your support!
