Howard Cox is the owner of MTC Tire in Oakville which opened 12 years ago and has expanded into a six bay shop. Howard discusses the importance of great customer service and offers some lessons to help you attract talent that fits your organization.
Howard believes that customer service is one of the biggest reasons that MTC Tire has been successful and beat the odds of entrepreneurship and owning a successful business. MTC Tire makes sure they treat their customers right and this builds trust. Howard explains that you can build trust by listening to the needs of your customers, and being honest and transparent. The little things are also important, like having the car ready on time and having a nice showroom.
None of this can be accomplished without having a great team — and Howard believes that this is a big reason for their success. Finding and retaining the right people is one of their biggest challenges. Howard believes that the hardest part is keeping your team, and this comes down to more than just salary, it’s about asking them questions about what’s important to them.
