Nowadays social media is a huge part of our everyday lives. Trying to stay on top of your content can get a little tricky though. However, if you follow these 6 easy steps I believe you’ll be on the path to success when it comes to your social media campaign.

1) Make sure your content matches your viewers

The first thing you should always remember when writing a social media post is that your content has to be geared towards the people viewing it. If you’re making a post for a marketing company you want to make sure each post has something relevant to marketing. This keeps your viewers interested in continuing to follow your posts.

2) Engage your Audience

Make sure you add exciting visuals and speak to your target audience directly. This engages the viewer on a personal level instead of speaking to the masses. Also, ask the right questions to make them think. If you’ve grabbed their attention with a question they’re more than likely to view the content in the hopes for answers.

3) Keep up to date and be consistent with your posts

Global active internet users now totals 3.175 Billion, that’s nearly half of the world’s population (7.357 Billion) in 2015. We’ve come a long way since the flip phone and dial up. If you’re going to make a successful social media post you have to constantly make yourself known and relevant. Making one post a week on Facebook or Twitter just won’t cut it anymore. The best way to stay on top of this is to pre-plan your posts and make sure you post something at least once a day on your site(s). A great way to organize your pre-planned posts is to use a gmail account and set up a spreadsheet. You can add the date, social media site and content all on your google sheet. This is an excellent way to stay ahead on your posts while making sure that you aren’t re-posting the same content you’ve done previously.

4) Be appropriate

When making a post one would think being appropriate would be pretty obvious. However, there are some things you should steer away from that may not be so obvious to the average person. To elaborate, you should avoid posting anything that states a strong opinion. Everyone has different views and opinions on many different topics, so it’s best to keep it fairly basic as the opinion you are giving reflects the values of your company. You can however use more informational pieces on certain subjects that not everyone agrees on. This can even work in your favour by asking what the viewers what they think about this subject to get them more engaged.

5) Spell Check

Grammar is one of the most important things when making a social media post. If you want to engage your readers you have to make sure that your spelling is correct or the credibility and standard for your work decreases. If you are able to use google spreadsheets there is an option for spell check or just make sure you go over your work thoroughly before it’s being posted.

6)  Use Sprout Social Effectively

Sprout Social is another great way of staying on top of your social media posts. This publishing site will allow you to select the exact time, date and social media site you want you content posted on. Sprout Social is great because you can maintain your posts without having to physically upload them on a daily basis. Once you’ve uploaded your content successfully to Sprout Social you can have them post without having to do anything, this is a very efficient way of social media posting.
